2021 December - Stock Market NEWS Highlights

Stock Markets ended a highly volatile session on Nov 30 in the negative after moving in and out of positive several times during the day as NIFTY ends at 16,983 while SENSEX halts at 57,065.

Indian equity markets drifted lower following the worries raised over newly detected Omicron variant of COVID 19 virus.

Consumer Durables and IT indices gained the most while Metals, Auto and Banks fell the most. Smallcap index gained 1.45% while Midcap index rose 0.29%.

1) Banks borrowed Rs. 73 crore under the Central Bank’s marginal standing facility on Nov 29, 2021 compared with Rs. 65 crore on Nov 26, 2021.

2) RBI conducted auction of state development loans for six state governments for a notified amount of Rs. 6,277 crore for which the accepted amount stood at Rs. 5,677 crore. The cut off rate will remain in the range of 4.73% to 6.92%.

RBI imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on SBI for holding shares in borrower companies of an amount exceeding 30% of the paid-up share capital of those companies.


3) India trade deficit fell marginally in October as exports rose and imports eased. Trade deficit stood at $19.73 billion, compared to $22.59 billion in September.

4) Asian Paints mentioned that the company will implement a price hike of about 4- 6% starting December 5.

5) HCL Technologies Ltd (HCL) has won a new multi-year application deal from Belgium-based Euroclear Group to accelerate its agile transformation journey with technologies and working practices to improve its digital capabilities.

6) Kotak Mahindra Bank and PVR launched a co-branded debit card.

7) Coforge has filed papers with the United States Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) for an initial public offering (IPO) via the American Depository Receipts (ADR) route. Barings Private Equity Asia will sell part stake as part of the proposed transaction. Coforge, which was formerly known as NIIT Technologies, is promoted by Barings Private Equity (PE) Asia and is listed on the domestic bourses.

8) Ruchi Soya Industries posted a 29.6% increase in standalone net profit to Rs 164.27 crore.

9) IPO Corner

a) Tarsons products received 77.49 times bidding on Day 3 of subscription. It received bids for 84.02 crore shares against an offer of 1.08 crore shares.

Retail Investors bid the issue 10.56 times the reserved portion. Qualified institutional buyers bid 115.77 times the reserved portion. Non-institutional buyers bid 184.58 times the reserved portion.Employees bid 1.83 times the reserved portion.

10) Macrotech Developers Ltd, formerly Lodha Developers announced a QIP (Qualified Institutional Placement) to raise Rs 4,000 crore via the share sale, which will entail around 7.5 percent of company shareholding.

11) Vodafone Idea (Vi) is talking to lenders and investors for debt relief, equity funding and for repayment of bonds maturing this fiscal year, and expects to conclude such discussions by the end of March 2022.

Vodafone Idea has decided to hike its prepaid tariffs in the range of 20-25%. The new rates will be effective from November 25.

Vodafone Idea achieved around 4 GB per second speed during the ongoing 5G trials.

12) Escorts has informed that the company is considering fund raising via debentures/QIP/rights issue. The meeting is scheduled to be held on Nov 18.

Japanese tractor major Kubota announced that it will increase its shareholding in the Escorts.

13)  Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services launched its leasing and subscription business ‘Quiklyz’.

14) Reliance Jio achieved the highest average data download speed of 21.9 megabit per second among 4G service providers in October.

Reliance Jio Infocomm announced that it will raise its prepaid tariffs by 21%, with effect from 1st December, 2021.

15) JSW Steel has been selected in the S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the Emerging Markets for 2021.

16) Bajaj Auto has reportedly started the deliveries for its newly launched Pulsar 250 series in Pune.

17) IndusInd Bank announced the launch of 'Indus Merchant Solutions' app.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has tied up with IndusInd Bank to enable retail finance for its customers across the country.

IndusInd Bank said that two of its senior officials can't be relieved from its subsidiary Bharat Financial Inclusion immediately. Microfinance institution Spandana Sphoorty has yesterday issued a press statement announcing the appointment of the two officials.

18) SpiceJet has entered into an agreement with Boeing to settle outstanding claims related to grounding of 737 MAX Aircraft. SpiceJet will induct 50 Boeing MAX aircraft over a period of two years.

19) Biocon Biologics, a subsidiary of Biocon Ltd., and Viatris Inc. announced the US launch of interchangeable biosimilars SEMGLEE (insulin glargineyfgn) injection, a branded product, and Insulin Glargine (insulin glargine-yfgn) injection, an unbranded product, to help control high blood sugar in adult and pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes and adults with type 2 diabetes. 

20) Paytm opened for trading at Rs 1,950 - a decline of 9.3% on its issue price of Rs 2,150. It marked a weak listing as it closed the day 27.40% lower at Rs 1,560.

21) Vedanta is looking to separately list its aluminum, iron & steel, and oil and gas businesses as standalone entities to unlock shareholder value.

22) Zydus Cadila has received final approval from the USFDA to market Nelarabine injection in the American market with 180-days of marketing exclusivity. The injection is used to treat certain types of cancer.

23) RBL Bank has been authorized by the RBI to collect direct taxes on behalf of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

24) DLF has been selected to be a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index.

25) EaseMyTrip has acquired hospitality management company Spree Hospitality.

26) L&T Technology Services Ltd (LTTS) has been selected as an engineering partner by Mavenir and NVIDIA, to accelerate adoption of the industry’s first converged AI on-5G.

27) Global password manager NordPass found that in India, "password" was the most commonly used password, followed by 12345, 123456, and 123456789.

28) Natco Pharma announced the launch of a novel fixed-dose combination of Trifluridine and Tipiracil in India. It is used to treat advanced colorectal and gastric cancer.

29) Punjab National Bank announced that it has raised Rs 1,919 crore by issuing Basel compliant bonds.

State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) has put up a Madhya Pradesh-based steel and agriculture company for sale to recover its outstanding of nearly Rs 200 crore. 

PNB announced its plans to invest in Open Network for Digital Commerce.

30) Hindalco Industries’ subsidiary Renuka Investments and Finance has completed the acquisition of 5.2 crore shares of Ryker Base for a consideration of Rs 167.54 crore.

31) Union Bank of India will allot Basel III compliant bonds next week on a private placement basis. The bank has accepted bids worth Rs 2,000 crore for the same.

The RBI has imposed a monetary penalty worth Rs 1 crore on Union Bank of India due to failure to classify an account as fraud and delay in disclosures in the annual report.

32) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government will repeal the three farm laws introduced last year that led to a massive protest of farmers, especially in Punjab and Haryana.

33) HFCL, along with its subsidiary, HTL Limited, has received the Purchase Orders ("PO") aggregating to Rs 412.9cr, from one of the leading private telecom operators of the Country for supply of Optical Fibre Cables (OFC). As per terms, it is to be executed by Mar-2022.

34) Route Mobile Limited, one of the leading CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service) providers to enterprises, overthe-top (“OTT”) players, and mobile network operators, announced that it has successfully raised Rs 867.5cr via Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). 

35) Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd (ONGC) will invest up to Rs 6,000 crore in petrochemicals arm ONGC Petro additions Ltd (OPaL) to meet its equity requirements. ONGC wanted to induct a strategic partner in OPaL, but due to lack of interest from investors, the plans were shelved.

36) Amber Enterprises India Limited and its subsidiary IL JIN Electronics India Private Limited (“IL JIN”) have received approval from Ministry of Commerce & Industry under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners). Cumulatively both would invest up to Rs 400cr to manufacture AC and related components in the said scheme.

37) HealthCare Global Enterprises Limited (“HCG”) has completed the investment of Rs 33cr in the equity shares of Suchirayu Health Care Solutions Limited (“Suchirayu”) aggregating to 78.6% of the share capital of Suchirayu. 

38) Laurus Labs has signed an investment agreement with Immunoadoptive Cell Therapy Private Limited (ImmunoACT), an advanced cell and gene therapy company, to acquire 26.62 per cent stake for Rs 46 crore, subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions.

39) Latent View stock marked its debut on the stock exchanges (23 - NOV). The stock debuted at Rs 512.20 on NSE compared to its offer price of Rs 197, translating into a listing gain of 159.90%.

40) Yes Bank, DIsh TV: The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has allowed YES Bank two weeks’ of time to file its reply in its case against Dish TV.

41) Bharti Airtel added over 2.74 lakh active users in the month of September, while Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea lost 1.9 crore and 10.8 lakh wireless subscribers, respectively. Trai added that the total subscribers have declined from 1,186.72 million at the end of August-21 to 1,166.02 million at the end of September, thereby registering a monthly decline rate of 1.74%. Overall, the industry lost 2,07,03,040 subscribers.

Airtel has conducted India's first 5G trial in the 700 MHz spectrum band in partnership with Nokia.

42) Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd., an indigenous approved supplier of engineered products & systems apart from approved supplier of indigenous marine gearboxes for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard shipbuilding projects, announced signing of a 10-year business agreement with GEAE Technology USA to locally manufacture the LM2500 gas turbine base and enclosure.

43) Zen Technologies Limited has signed an export contract worth Rs 35cr with one of its important Middle East customers. The order includes Live Simulation equipment (Rs 19.7cr) and O&M (Rs 15.4cr) for 4 years. 

44) TVS Motor will invest Rs 1,200 crore in future technologies and electric vehicles over the next four years, the company announced.

TVS Motor Company announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu for investment in Future Technologies and Electric Vehicle.

45) Equitas Small Finance Bank announced its partnership with HDFC Bank for a co-branded credit card.

46) UltraTech Cement: Fitch Ratings has affirmed UltraTech Cement's long-term foreign- and local-currency issuer default ratings (IDR) at 'BBB-'.

47) Larsen & Toubro has entered into a pact with the Tamil Nadu government to establish a data centre in the state.

48) Coal India’s board will meet on Monday, 29 November 2021, to consider and approve payment of interim dividend for 2021-22. Coal India’s board approved an interim dividend of Rs 9 per share for the financial year 2021-22.

The dispatch of coal to the power sector by Coal India rose 22.7% to 291.72 million tonne (MT) in the first seven months of the ongoing fiscal year.

49) Bharat Forge’s subsidiary Kalyani Powertrain has hiked its stake in Tork Motors to 60.66% through conversion of debentures into equity shares.

50) SEBI has postponed the implementation of the 50 percent cash-margin rule for futures and options (F&O) traders and credit-default swaps (CDS) segment to February 28, 2022, from the earlier deadline of December 1, 2021.

51) The merger of Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEE) and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) is on track and it is in the final stages of stitching up, disclosed Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, ZEE. ZEE and Sony will form the largest media entertainment player in the country. R

52) Nexcharge, a joint venture between India's largest battery maker Exide and Switzerland's Leclanche, has set itself an ambitious target of breakeven by next year within five years of setting up shop in India, as demand for electric vehicles rises. Established in 2018, Nexcharge makes lithium-ion battery packs primarily for the transportation industry.

53) Greaves Electric Mobility, the E-Mobility arm of Greaves Cotton and one of the market leaders in the E-2W and E-3W segments, inaugurated its largest EV production facility in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. The 35-acre plant will serve as an electric mobility hub for both domestic and export markets.

54) Ipca Laboratories acquired 17.7 lakh equity shares through bulk deal in the open market. With this, it has acquired a total of 28.2 lakh equity shares or 9.8% stake in Lyka Labs in the last two days. The total investment for the same stood at Rs 35.2cr. Promoters’ hold 20% stake in Lyka Labs.

55) Siemens has recommended a dividend of Rs 8 per equity share for the financial year ended September 2021.

56) JSW Energy: The board of JSW Energy has approved reorganisation of green (renewable) and grey (thermal) businesses.

57) HCL Technologies (HCL) opened its new facility at the Cinnamon Life complex in Sri Lanka.

58) Tech Mahindra has partnered with Cogniac with the aim to simplify data management for enterprises globally. The latter is a US-based provider of enterprise-class Artificial Intelligence (AI) image and video analysis.

59) Multiplex chain PVR Cinemas has partnered with digital service provider UFO Moviez to announce the installation of a cinema-specific air sterilization device called UFO-Wolf AirMask to make theatres a safe experience for audiences who may still be wary of sitting with strangers in closed auditoriums in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic. 

60) Acer India, the leading PC brand, and Dixon Technologies have partnered for the manufacturing of laptops at Dixon’s facility situated in Noida. This will give a strong impetus to India's manufacturing competitiveness and leverage the production-linked incentive (PLI) by Government of India. The factory will have capacity to produce upto 500,000 laptops annually.

61) Cadila Healthcare has entered into a manufacturing license and technology transfer agreement for its Plasmid DNA based Covid-19 (ZyCoV-D) vaccine with Enzychem Lifesciences of Republic of Korea.

62) Tata Steel has set up 8 million tonne per annum crushing and washing plant at its captive Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine near Joda in Keonjhar district, Odisha. The iron ore processing plant will cater to the rapidly growing raw material requirements of Tata Steel and will provide raw material security. 

63) Tarsons Products listed at Rs 682 on NSE - a 3.02% premium over its issue price of Rs 662. The stock closed the day 23.63% higher at Rs 818.40.

64) ITC will acquire a 16% stake in Mother Sparsh, a D2C Ayurvedic, and natural personal care brand, for Rs 20 crore through a share subscription agreement.

65) Bank of Baroda has raised Rs 1,997 crore by issuing Basel III-compliant bonds.

66) IndiGo has renewed its partnership with French hospitality group Accor. IndiGo’s 6E Rewards members can now avail a 15% discount when they book directly with Accor.

67) Mahindra & Mahindra has entered the World Index list of companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

68) Dr. Reddy's Laboratories is in talks with partners to export domestically made doses of the Sputnik vaccine.

69) Asian Paints will invest Rs 960 crore to expand the manufacturing capacity of its facility situated at Ankleshwar in Gujarat.

70) Piramal Capital & Housing Finance (PCHFL) has tied up with API Holdings to provide financing solutions to customers and has earmarked an amount of Rs 100 crore for disbursement by the end of this fiscal. Piramal Capital & Housing Finance Limited (PCHFL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Piramal Enterprises Limited, has forged a strategic partnership with API Holdings through its digital platform Retailio, a release said. 

71) Amazon has asked India's antitrust regulator to revoke its approval for Future Retail's $3.4 billion sale of retail assets to Reliance.

72) Salasar Techno Engineering has secured work order worth Rs 170cr from RITES for railway electrification of 25kv OHE works on existing track of Udaipur-Himmatnagar (section of Ajmer division of North Western Railway).

73) Go Fashion made its debut on the stock markets today. It opened the day on NSE at Rs 1,310 per share - an 89.86% premium over its issue price.

The Go Fashion IPO was open for subscription between 17th November and 22nd November 2021.

74) Parag Agrawal is now the CEO of Twitter replacing founder and ex-CEO Jack Dorsey.

75) Edelweiss Financial Services has approved a public issue of debentures for an amount up to Rs 200 crore with an option to retain oversubscription up to Rs 300 crore.

76) Mutual funds bought equity worth Rs. 3,633.88 crore as against sale of Rs. 3,987.25 crore as on Nov 25, 2021. This led to a net sale of Rs. 353.37 crore compared with a net purchase of Rs. 2,714.83 crore on Nov 24, 2021.

• Mutual funds bought debt worth Rs. 3,535.43 crore as against sale of Rs. 2,333.09 crore as on Nov 25, 2021. This led to a net purchase of Rs. 1,202.34 crore compared with a net purchase of Rs. 276.74 crore on Nov 24, 2021.
